San Miguel Journal

These are images from my journal from San Miguel. It was a quick trip, so I did more touring and learning than painting. On the next trip I plan to paint more.
For finished paintings of San Miguel, visit my
Watercolors on Canvas page.

This lady was begging in front of the cathedral in the center of town.

This beautiful fountain was in the courtyard of an art school. The entire property was formally a monastery, so the architecture is beautiful. The arcade around the courtyard has a little coffee shop where I sat and painted for hours.

A view from the Instituto. I had a cup of coffee so that I could sit at a table and paint. It was not a long walk from our Bed and Breakfast.

The Laundry ladies at the local laundromat....an outdoor facility with cement basins and a trough of running water. Very primitive. And they were there all day long!

This laundress must have known that if she wore a red blouse and a hat with a red band, she would be the subject of all the paintings done that day.

I could paint in this location every day. The shadows and the colors were very exciting.
